Moving to Wisconsin
After sharing some of our experiences moving here to Wisconsin with our friends, my friend Clea mentioned to me that I should start a blog...so here I am! Our move has brought us an array of emotions and situations; some good, bad, funny, miserable, sad and of course happy. This experience has been a very unforgettable and a memorable one. Michael and I decided to move here when his mom passed away. He knew that he needed to be with his family and I respected his wishes and I couldn't be nothing more then 100 percent supportive. It was of course a very difficult decision to make though because we had two great jobs, some very close friends we hated having to leave behind and obviously the hardest decision was having to move without David and Marcus. Michael and I talked about our decision together and with several people and we got a lot of great encouragement, advice that did not go unheard and loving support. So it was a definite go. We should have known that our road trip was going to be eventful because the week before we moved proved to be nothing more then drama. I lost a few aquaintances because they felt as if I was a selfish mom for leaving my boys behind. Michael kept reassuring me that this was not true and that the opinions of others who meant nothing to me did not matter and I was still a great mother. So many people are quick to judge, but they have no idea what I am having to deal with until they walk a day in my shoes. So in the midst of the move I thought that I wanted a dog. After a few days of searching I found a free Boxer on craigslist and picked him up. Now keep in mind that I never talked this over with Michael nor thought it over myself. Oh and don't forget I am deathly allergic to both dogs and cats and I am anally ocd when it comes to my carpets or furniture. Are you wondering what on earth was I thinking yet? So I brought home the dog and doubted my decision before he even got to our house. The first time doggie slober touched my couch I was insanely irritated. Then he felt the need to show his red rocket...OH MY GOSH THAT IS DISGUSTING! I knew then this was a temporary situation and that the dog needed to go. Needless to say my friend Jamie had come down from Prescott Valley to visit and the dog went home with her. Thankfully she was willing to give him the home he deserved. Well the fun doesn't stop there. Michael had asked a few of his friends to come and help load the truck for a few hours. That of course fell through. Surprise, surprise....where is everybody that you have helped in the past? Amazingly enough a few of his co-workers were kind enough to lend a few hours of their time after work, which was awesome. So after many nights of packing and loading we finally set out for our travels on Monday, February 9th right at noon. That day we drove for about 8 or so hours and stopped in Albaquerque, NM. Tuesday morning we set out again at 9am hoping to get to Iowa by that evening. Well we had great intentions but our Penske truck had other plans and those plans delayed us by a day. We made it 177 miles to Tucumcari, NM. Definitely not as far as we planned. We found out that the truck was not going to be fixed for us in a timely manner so that meant we had to wait for another truck which was back in Albaquerque...which also meant that we would have to unload the original truck and load the new one that evening...and that meant we were staying the night! As Michael was unloading the truck and loading our belongings into the new truck he was quite surprised to find some of our furniture had been damaged by water! Oh my goodness you have got to be kidding! I then called Penske and made a claim. Wednesday morning came too soon and we hit the road yet again. We made it this time to Iowa! We decided to spemd the night outside of Des Moines since we had been driving for 14 hours and were worn out. The next morning was an early one. We were determined to get home. 4 days in a Penske truck and 3 nights in a hotel with two babies was exhausting. We knew we were going to have to stop in Buffalo, Iowa to get Staceys things out of her storage shed, but we had no idea that was going to be a 4 hour ordeal. We finally left Iowa and arrived at our destination (home) at 11 pm. I have never been more excited to see my home. We then got to see our new home for the very first time as we were moving into it. The house belongs to a friend of Michael and he is allowing us to rent his home while he has it on the market. We are definitely gracious to be given this opportunity. Our home has 3 bedrooms 1 bath, two story with a basement that is non habitable. There are a few quirks to the house but we have made it our home. Michael and I are relieved to be where we belong.
